Aboard our whale watching tour off the San Diego coast last Friday, passengers were treated to a sighting of False Killer Whales. Identified by our onboard naturalist, False Killer Whales are similar in appearance to their cousins the Orca. They are more commonly seen in warmer, tropical waters, but a specific pod of 30-40 False Killer Whales has been making periodic spring visits to Southern California since 2014, providing a once-in-a-lifetime encounter for anyone lucky enough to see them.

As far as years go, you could do worse than 1915. In that year, Frank Sinatra was born, Einstein explained gravity, a postage stamp cost two cents and the U.S. still had yet to fight in a world war. And in May of 1915, a sixteen-vessel fleet that would become Flagship Cruises & Events began offering water transportation and 50-cent harbor tours on San Diego Bay. Today as Flagship celebrates our 105th anniversary, let's take a look at what life was like in San Diego back in 1915.
As a family-owned and operated business for over 100 years, we mean it when we say that our employees are like family. On Employee Appreciation Day, we not only want to thank the entire team at Flagship for their outstanding work and contributions but we also want to recognize one particularly special team member.
SAN DIEGO – Celebrating the company’s 100 years on San Diego Bay, Flagship Cruises & Events will debut two brand new cruise offerings this May. Flagship’s Hops on the Harbor dinner cruise sets sail Friday, May 15 in partnership with local craft breweries, and the Spirits at Sunset cocktail cruise will commence Friday, May 22. Both experiences offer San Diegans and visitors a new way to soak in sunset on the harbor and take in the city’s skyline at twilight.
SAN DIEGO – Visitors and locals alike have long preferred Flagship Cruises & Events for a leisurely cruise around the San Diego Bay while dining on gourmet food or dancing the night away. The meals prepared by Flagship’s on-board chefs are an experience by themselves. Perhaps this is why they were chosen to receive the Editor’s Choice Award for SanDiego.com’s Fan Favorites.
